Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 12 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how carinjurylawyersnearme.com (the “Site”) collects, uses, and shares information about you.

The Site is operated by James N. Kiarie (“Operator,” “I,” or “we”), an independent WordPress developer based in Nairobi, Kenya. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Please do not send us case details

This Site is an informational directory. It is not a law firm and cannot advise you.

Please do not send details of your injuries, medical history, accident, or legal matter through any form or email address on this Site. Information sent to us is not confidential and is not protected by attorney-client privilege. If you need to discuss your case, contact a licensed attorney in your state directly.

If you do send such details despite this notice, we will delete them and will not use them for any purpose.

Information we collect

Information you provide. If you use a contact form or email us, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message. If you submit an attorney listing, we collect your name, firm name, business contact details, bar admission details, and any information you choose to include in the listing.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our third-party providers automatically collect your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, time spent, and the date and time of your visit. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, including health information, and we ask you not to provide it.

Cookies and tracking technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. The Site uses:

  • Essential cookies — required for the Site to function.
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the Site.
  • Advertising cookies — Google AdSense and its partners, to serve and measure advertising.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect Site functionality.

Advertising

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other sites on the internet.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices, optout.networkadvertising.org, or youradchoices.com.

Advertisements are selected and served by third-party networks, not by the Operator. Their appearance on the Site is not an endorsement.

How we use information

We use information collected to operate and improve the Site, respond to your enquiries, publish and maintain directory listings, analyse traffic and usage patterns, detect and prevent fraud or abuse, serve and measure advertising, and comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK visitors)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on these bases: legitimate interests (operating, securing, and improving the Site); consent (analytics and advertising cookies, where required); contract (managing an attorney listing you have submitted); and legal obligation (where the law requires it).

Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money.

However, under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, the use of advertising cookies on this Site may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. California residents may opt out — see “California residents” below.

We may otherwise share information with service providers (hosting, analytics, email, and advertising providers who process data on our behalf), where required by law (court order, legal process, or governmental request), to protect rights and safety (to investigate fraud, abuse, or threats), in a business transfer (if the Site or its assets are sold or transferred), and with your consent.

International data transfers

The Operator is based in Kenya. Information collected through the Site may be processed in Kenya, the United States, or other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may not offer the same level of data protection as your own.

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, transfers outside the EEA or UK are made in reliance on appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses where required. By using the Site, you understand that your information may be transferred internationally.

Data retention

We retain contact form submissions and emails for up to 24 months, unless a longer period is needed to resolve a dispute or comply with legal obligations. Attorney listing information is retained while the listing is active and for 12 months afterwards. Analytics and advertising data are retained according to the retention settings of the relevant provider. Information sent to us that contains case or medical details is deleted promptly on receipt.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate information, to request deletion, to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent, to opt out of personalised advertising, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law, generally within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

California residents

Under the CCPA/CPRA, California residents may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, request deletion, request correction, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

To opt out of advertising-related sharing, use the advertising opt-out links above and enable a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser, which we honour where technically supported. To make any other request, email us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Kenyan residents

The Operator is subject to the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. Kenyan residents may exercise the rights set out in that Act and may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information collected through the Site, including HTTPS encryption. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and the “Last updated” date will be revised. Material changes will be highlighted on this page. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance.
